1. A Meeting of Minds
During the “Emporium Sound One Year Anniversary” rave, I got a chance to chop it up with my bro Bryson (Subfrequency).
It’s always a good vibe when we link up, especially since we’re both so passionate about the art we do. Though I’ve been going to raves since around 2014 or 2015 (thanks to my friend Mattison), Bryson is the person who inspired me to fall in love with the actual music. Through his passion, I was able to truly hear the beauty of bass.
2. Inspiration Through Passion
One of Bryson’s biggest influences is the DJ by the name of Subtronics. I remember going to New Orleans with him to see Subtronics live, and I must say, “The boy is bad!”
Not only was it a phenomenal performance, but it was also one of the greatest moments of my life. Though Bryson was already a DJ, that night I saw what kind of DJ he truly wanted to be—one performing in front of a multitude of people like Subtronics.
That was in 2022. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing my bro pursue his dream. I’m proud to see he hasn’t stopped and that he’s constantly finding ways to elevate himself within his craft.
Bro’s music is fucking banging! So far, he’s performed his mixes twice in front of crowds, and I’m so happy to see his hard work being well received.
3. The Drive to Keep Going
As we watched DJ Skribble kill his set, Bryson leaned over and said to me, “I’m so impatient! I need to be up there.”
I smiled. “Nah, you’re not impatient, you’re ready!”
Curtis Jackson, more popularly known by his rap moniker “50 Cent,” knew he was ready in 1999; but he didn’t pop until 2003. I imagine whatever happened between 1999 and 2003 helped build within him the fortitude that has turned him into the successful artist and businessman he is today in 2025.
4. The Nature of Progression
Progression. . .
To progress, you have to put in work. You have to keep showing up, even when obstacle after obstacle piles up in front of you. Though the adversities seem quite troublesome at times, they’re an interesting part of this game of life.
Instinctively, I want to say it’s a natural part of the game, but truly, what is this game we’re playing? No matter how you choose to describe life, we all have desires. Among these desires, there are those that require immense effort to make happen.
5. Manifestation and the Grind
Manifestation.
Manifesting is such a trendy term right now. Though I feel the word has lost some of its luster due to the rise of content creators mixed with capitalism, it’s still a very important concept to me.
Manifestation comes after pushing through the bullshit that comes with going for that which is destined within.
6. The Alignment of Self
Within.
That can be your mind, your heart, or your soul. The interesting thing about this is that these three can desire different things all at once.
The beauty comes when these three align to manifest your destiny.
7. Destiny and Progression
I’m convinced that we all have a destiny. I view destiny as a specific achievement crafted for each of our individual journeys. It’s not for you to figure out anyone else’s destiny; you’re only able to achieve that which belongs to you.
To get there… you must go through the progression.
Closing Reflection:
What does your progression look like? Are you ready for the adversities that lead to your destiny?
Let me know – I’d love to hear your thoughts.
